이 날까지 모든 선지와 사도와 성도들은 교회를 개척하여 세우기 위하여 어느 국가 민족 할 것 없이 피를 흘리지 않고는 참된 구원의 복음을 전할 수 없게 되었던 것입니다. 왜냐하면 이방 신의 종교가 가득하고 이방적인 풍속에 젖어 있고 이방의 정권이 다스리고 있는 그 나라에 전도를 개척할 때 이방적인 종교나 풍속이나 정치에 대한 일을 대항하는 진리가 되기 때문입니다.

여기에 죽음을 당한다는 것은 말세의 종들도 자기 사명을 지켜 끝까지 나가는 자는 순교의 반열에 드는 산 순교인 것을 말하고 있습니다. 주님께서 자기처럼 이라고 말씀하신 것은 주님이 썩지 않고 죽었다가 삼일 만에 부활함 같이 말세의 남은 종들도 순교의 생활에서 주님을 맞이할 수 있다는 것입니다.
이 수라는 것은 십사만 사천 명의 수가 찬다는 것이나 마찬가지입니다. 아직까지 심판의 역사가 내리지 않는 것은 그 수가 차기를 기다리는 잠시라는 기간입니다.
이제 시련기를 거쳐서 환란기에 남은 종은 인간성, 죄악성 자체를 죽이고 나가는 순교적인 생활이 있어야 된다는 것을 가르친 것입니다.

다시 말하면 눅14:23에 나가서 강권하여 데려다가 혼인 석을 채우라는 말과 동일합니다. 종말의 수는 자기의 기도가 부족해도 순교자의 원한이 이루어지는 강권 역사에 끌려서 사명자가 되는 일도 있고 하루아침에 자기 인간성이 죽는 강권 역사도 있을 것입니다(슥3:9). 하나님은 무소불능하신 신이신 동시에 사랑의 신이시니 자기의 예정한 수는 어떻게 하든지 채우고야 만다는 것입니다.
